About us
Who we are
Sometimes, all we need is a push in the right direction
Storm Center of Hope & Service, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to be servant-leaders in our communities. We strive to inspire hope, empower breakthroughs, and alleviate barriers between mental and emotional wellness for vulnerable youth and young adults. By bridging the gap between crisis and stability, we advocate self-sufficiency and well-being while offering academic, and life skills development programs and resources. STORM CoH&S is governed by its leadership team and Board of Directors who establishes the overall policy for providing direction for the organization. The Leadership and Board of Directors offers a broad range of experience and services that will contribute to overall mission of developing our youth.
Preventing homelessness and providing transitional planning to youth and adults in or formerly was in out-of-home placement (foster, adoptive, group and kinship care) ages 14-28 years old is our top priority. Storm Center of Hope & Service, Inc. is committed to building a restored sense of hope, self-empowerment, and self-assurance in our adolescence, focusing on their inner capacity and self-esteem as a supportive partner in society. The key goal of the Storm Center of Hope & Service is to elevate our pillars Set-apart, Together, Overcomers, Resilience and Mindfulness, with an emphasis on the infinite possibilities of their future.
Numerous elements harm our adolescents’ minds and add to their lack of expectations, low desires, and low confidence. Time after time, our young people don’t have the foggiest sense of what their identity is, they later become the victim of a negative circumstance, and they don’t see the overwhelming capacity inside to succeed and prosper in their everyday lives.
Even though child rearing and encouraging feedback begins at home, many of our childhood are hindered in such manner. Their absence of mindfulness makes weaknesses and negative empowering influences that impact their lives. Secondary school dropouts, downtown killings, drugs, pregnancy, homelessness and suicides are expanding at fast rates among young people.
Storm Center of Hope & Service will stress discipline, confidence, modesty, and regard for others as the main guiding principle for our childhood. These fundamental beliefs will be reinforced by cooperation, commitment, and ingenuity.
Education generally tends to focus on career opportunities, but education is so much more than that. In most cases, anyone who has an opportunity to acquire a good education will have a much better chance of succeeding in life. However, learning life skills, which include personal and career development, enhances, and promotes abilities that allow individuals to shape their own lives positively, successfully and constructively while learning to deal with difficult times that occur. Ultimately, this reduces or prevents ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) along the way. The (World Health Organization) views the following skills and abilities as essential: self-awareness, empathy, creative and critical thinking, decision making, problem-solving, effective communication, interpersonal skills, the ability to deal with one’s emotions and the ability to cope with stress. STORM’s initiative is to provide programs to support the whole person either through direct service or referrals, while utilizing programs that are measurable and interactive.
Like its Founder/President, Storm CoH&S Inc realizes it takes collaboration of a diverse team to achieve its goal. We support and encourage collaboration, relationship building, and partnerships within our communities that in turn would help to identify ways in which we could cofunction effectively to advance common goals for our youth and young adults. Together we can strengthen the socioeconomic status and enrich the lives and spirits of all who pass our way.
